My 1st in a series of three posters, for 2012's Epic Movie Poster Contest[link] , using the film-treatment for the intriguing storyline of 'La Fleur Noire'.
All three posters were illustrated by me from scratch, using my (recent) style in a more graphic way. No reference or stock used from deviantART, pattern in the background downloaded for free from WebTreats ETC [link], font used is the Garamond.
I opted for a black and white (grey tones) approach in my work because of the mood the script gave me, it reminded me of old movies with classic filmstars, like Casablanca. I kept the design minimal, choosing to not use film credits for a more focused impact building way, like in posters for the X-files and Batman a few years ago - check them out here; [link]
This first poster is the main one, starring the mysterious assassin dressed in black and the black flower on the mask...
Congratulations! This poster has been voted Best Series Poster - Third Place in the 2012 Epic Movie Poster Contest.
